reports that Jackie Earle Haley is set for Steven
Spielberg’s Lincoln, playing the role of Alexander
Stephens. Stephens was vice president of the Confederate
States during the Civil War and a nemesis of
Lincoln’s slavery reform agenda.
09/20/2011:
Steven Spielberg’s movie about Abraham Lincoln
will start filming shortly with a target release of
November-December 2012. The film, based Doris Kearns
Goodwin’s book “Team of Rivals,” will
focus on the last four months of Lincoln’s life.
Although the film is not a battlefield movie, Spielberg
has revealed that there are battles in it. It also is
probable the film will include Lincoln’s landslide
re-election, his second inaugural address, and the passing
of the thirteenth amendment which all happened in the
film’s target timeframe. The film will be released
after next year’s election to avoid political
issues.

Casting agents for director Steven Spielberg’s movie
about Abraham Lincoln, parts of which will be filmed in
Richmond and Petersburg, are looking for extras, and will
hold a casting call Sept. 15. Filming is scheduled to

David Strathairn has been set for a key role in Lincoln
by director Steven Spielberg. He’ll play William
Seward, Abraham Lincoln’s Secretary of State, an
outspoken abolitionist and a core member of
Lincoln’s wartime cabinet.

Deadline reports that Lee Pace has joined the cast of
Steven Spielberg’s ‘Lincoln’, playing
opportunistic New York City mayor Fernando Wood, a
prominent early supporter of the Confederate cause. Mayor

Deadline reports that Walton Goggins has joined the
cast of director Steven Spielberg’s
‘Lincoln’. He will play Ohio Congressman
Wells A. Hutchins, a progressive Democrat who goes
against his party and votes in favor of the Thirteenth

In November it was reported that Steven Spielberg’s
film about Abraham Lincoln finally has a start date (Fall
2011) with a targeted release date (Fall 2012). The film
will star Daniel Day-Lewis as Lincoln. The film is based
