Surratt Society & Surratt House Museum 2012 Conference

Law & Order, L.A. [Lincoln’s Assassination]

March 16-18, 2012

Conspirators
Gangs and Guns and Gallows, Oh My!
The Surratt Society is pleased to present its thirteenth annual conference addressing the many issues surrounding the Lincoln assassination. This year’s theme focuses on some new perspectives ranging from a revolutionary group that proposed the expansion of slavery, the arsenal of weapons that the conspirators amassed, the issues of protecting the president, Part II of last year’s popular Inside The Walls, and finally a study of opposing lawyers – Reverdy Johnson and Joseph Holt.
Following in our tradition, we will be offering two outstanding tours on Friday and Sunday of the conference. In commemoration of the Sesquicentennial of the American Civil War, these tours will focus on the Battle of First Manassas and a wonderful history of Maryland in the Civil War. Separate reservations will be required for these tours and are on a first-come basis.
An opening reception at the museum’s James O. Hall Research Center will be held on Friday evening, beginning at 6:15 pm. Saturday night’s banquet will feature Tom Jennings, producer of the documentary The Conspirator: The Plot to Kill Lincoln and The Hunt for John Wilkes Booth, as we conclude another educational and entertaining event.
