MD House Divided  Surratt House commemorates the 150th anniversary of the American Civil War with a focus on Maryland’s role in the conflict.

HARRIET TUBMAN—MEET THE AMAZING WOMAN  pdf icon
Harriet Tubman  Known as the “Moses of Her People,” Harriet Tubman led slaves to freedom, served as both spy and scout for the Union during the Civil War, and was a nurse for fugitive slaves. Join Gwendolyn Briley-Strand as she discusses the life of this remarkable woman.

THIRTEENTH ANNUAL SYMPOSIUM
LAW & ORDER, L.A. [LINCOLN’S ASSASSINATION]
Assassination  Scholars explore various legal aspects of the case from the standpoint of protecting President Lincoln, prosecution and defense attorneys, tools of the assassins, prison life for the conspirators, and the little-known role of the Knights of the Golden Circle. Gangs and guns and gallows, oh my! Also included are off-site bus tours and a dinner program.
Reservations and payments required in advance.  Fee: $160 per person — bus tours priced separately.

THE MARYLAND CAMPAIGN OF 1862
Maryland 1862  Explore battlefield decisions and how they changed the outcome of battles with special focus on the Maryland Campaign of 1862. Civil War expert, Dennis Frye, will be the presenter.

Relax and enjoy the history and scenery on this 12-hour, fully-narrated bus tour.  7:30 am–7:30 pm Reservations and payment required in advance. Cost: $75 per person.

Hollywood and the Civil War  Released in 1951, The Red Badge of Courage (from Stephen Crane’s novel of the same name) is a film about a Civil War Union soldier who struggles to find the courage to fight in the heat of battle.
